| Dates and Standards - Region From 01.11.2011 to 31.10.2013: Minimum emissions standard for entry: Euro 2 2-stroke motorcycles & mopeds are banned, with and without catalyst (applies only in the city Bozen). From 01.11.2013 to 31.03.2014: Minimum emissions standard for entry: Petrol: Euro 2 Diesel: Euro 3 2-stroke motorcycles & mopeds are banned, with and without catalyst (applies only in the city Bozen). There are no restrictions for lorries Euro 4+, light duty vehicles Euro 5+, natural gas, LPG, hybrid, electric, hydrogen fuel cell and 4-stroke motorcycles. The schemes are not necessarily always in operation, see hours of operation below. The standards are also in operation as an "Action Plan" after 30 days of high pollution – see hours of operation for more details. Vehicles affected - Region All vehicles, including 2-stroke motorcycles What is the LEZ boundary - Region The Bolzano LEZs are in operation in whole of the city areas of Bozen/Bolzano and Brixen/Bressanone, except the main through-roads. Bolzano (or Bozen or Südtirol) is bilingual Italian/German, therefore the two names for the cities. There are two types of area defined, LEZs and pedestrian areas. LEZ Road sign - Region Has signs similar to the picture below, a banned vehicle sign with the requirements below: ![]() Need to Register? - Region Locals recieve a sticker indicating the Euro standard of the vehicle. Non-locals are required to show the car documents in case of a police check. The table below shows the colour of the sticker indicates the traffic restriction for the vehicle with this sticker. The number/word on the sticker indicates the Euro standard.
Foreign Vehicles? - Region Are enforced, non-locals are required to show the car documents in case of a police check. Retrofitting allowed? - Region No Retrofitting Summary - Region There is no retrofit allowed for the LEZs, but they are allowed for the Action Plan. Hours of operation - Region In LEZs: Monday - Friday (except bank holidays) from 7:00–10:00 hours and from 16:00–19:00 hours In pedestrian zones: 24 hours a day 7 days a week. There is also an "Action Plan" after the EU Limit Value for PM10 daily concentration was exceeded for more than 30 days. The Action Plan takes effect immediately after the 30th PM10-daily exceedence and will remain in place the whole winter (until 31.3). Where: in the cities Bozen/Bolzano, Meran/Merano, Brixen/Bressanone, Bruneck/Brunico, Leifers/Laives and Eppan/Appiano.
