Finding a certified particulate filter

If you choose to retrofit your vehicle, it is important that you get a certified filter. This is to both ensure that the filter you fit appropriately reduces particulate emissions, and that you actually formally meet the requirements of the LEZ you wish to enter.

Different LEZs have different certification schemes. In general, where the LEZ enforces against foreign vehicles, the authorities will accept the particulate trap certification from the country where the vehicle is registered. If there is no retrofit LEZ certification in your own country, then any existing retrofit certification or national recognition is recommended. In the absence of both of these, we would suggest that a particulate filter is chosen that is valid in the country you are travelling to, with a certification from the manufacturer.

There are two ways provided here to find out this information.

1. A list of what retrofits are valid in which country, and for which Euro standards

2. Links to the certification schemes and information in each country

3. If your vehicle is registered in the Netherlands or Germany, you can find out what filter fits directly online.
